The Autumn Leaf Festival is Leavenworth ’s longest running festival. The Autumn Leaf Festival Association (ALFA) started this event in 1964 with the adoption of the Bavarian Theme and continues today as one of Leavenworth’s major festivals. Fun Fact: 05/25/10
During early "Boom Times" Leavenworth was in fact called "Icicle" - an isolated little town whose supplies had to be carried over mountains by wagon and pack animals and whose river could only be crossed by boat or raft or forded during the late summer months.

Bavarian Ice Fest
This festival closely resembles a "Winter Carnival" with outdoor games and activities for the entire family.
Bavarian Ice Fest is much like a a Winter Carnival. There are a lot of games and contests including the very popular Snow Sculpture contest held every year in front of the Cascade Medical Center Clinic. Don't mist this exciting time in January!!!!!!!
